Europe experiences downtime with Office 365 services
A problem with Microsoft’s cloud computing service Azure on the 3rd December resulted in many users within West Europe unable to use Office 365 – an online version of Microsoft Office that provides access to Word, Outlook and Excel amongst other applications. The downtime started at 9am – where most UK companies will have been getting ready to start work.
No problems were reported on The Azure status page until 10:30am, where a message stated: “Engineering teams have identified an Azure Active Directory configuration error that is believed to be the root cause of the issue. The team is working on failing over the impacted service components to a different environment. Impact is largely centralized to the West Europe and North Europe regions. An update will be provided in 60 minutes, or as events warrant.”
Though the issue has now been fixed, the disruption will have caused a massive blow to productivity for businesses relying on Office 365 – particularly through the use of e-mail – which raises questions to the reliability of Microsoft’s services.
In comparison, Cloud 9 Hosts offers businesses private cloud solutions that not only consists of Microsoft Office but includes all types of other applications such as accounting software. In addition to providing a secure and versatile cloud platform, the service also includes day-to-day IT support for your local network – meaning that any issues, especially regarding downtime, can be dealt with as soon as possible.
